Border Security Force ASI (Stenographer) & HC (Ministerial) Recruitment 2016-17 for 157 Vacancies



BSF Recruitment Notification 2016-17: Border Security Force (BSF) recently announced about its recruitment notification and released the notification on 5th December 2016. This Recruitment notification is for the posts of Assistant Sub Inspector (Stenographer) and Head Constable (Ministerial) in BSF, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India. The total number of vacancies available in this BSF recruitment is 157 posts, in that 36 vacancies for ASI (Stenographer) post and 121 vacancies for HC (Ministerial) post. Border Security Force (BSF) is inviting all Indian Male & Female candidates to apply for this 2017 ASI & HC recruitment if they are interested. BSF released the format of the application for this recruitment along with the notification. The candidates who are interested and eligible based on the post requirement can apply for it and sent the application form along with the required documents by post to any one of the centers on or before 2nd January 2017 (Centers list is given below). BSF ASI (Steno) & HC (Mini) Recruitment 2016-17
No. of Vacancies: This BSF recruitment is 157 ASI (Stenographer) and Head Constable (Ministerial). Category wide vacancies for both ASI & HC posts details are

ASI (Stenographer): 36 posts

SC – 12 posts (Direct Entry – 10, Departmental – 2)

ST – 24 posts (Direct Entry – 20, Departmental – 4)

Head Constable (Ministerial): 121 Posts

General – 121 posts (Direct Entry - 102, Departmental - 19)

Pay Scale:

For ASI (Stenographer) post:
PB-I Rs. 5, 200 to 20,200/- + GP Rs. 2,800/-

For HC (Ministerial):
PB-I Rs. 5, 200 to 20,200/- + GP Rs. 2,400/-

Age Limits: Age is considered as on 1st January 2017 and upper age limit is applicable for Government Servant (5 years for both ASI & HC), SC/ST (5 years for ASI only), Ex-Servicemen and other special categories of persons as per Govt. rules (what to know more information regarding upper age relaxation go through the official notification, link is given below). The age limits other than these categories is

Minimum Age – 18 years

Maximum Age – 25 years

Educational Qualifications: these are the minimum requirements of the candidates (for direct entry)
- Intermediate or Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) examination from recognized board/university or equivalent.

- Minimum Shorthand Speed for ASI (Stenographer): 80 words per minute in English or in Hindi in 10 minutes and Transcription of dictation in English in 50 Minutes on computer or Transcription of dictation in Hindi in 65 Minutes on computer.

- Minimum Typing Speed for HC (Ministerial): 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi corresponding to 10500 KDPH in English/9000 KDPH in Hindi with average of 5 key depressions for each word on computer. (in 10 minutes)

Physical Standards: The minimum requirements of the candidate’s physical standards for this recruitment

For Male candidates:
Height: 165 Cms
Chest: 77 Cms (Unexpanded), 82 Cms (Expanded)

For ST category ASI (Stenography) only - Male
Height: 162.5 Cms
Chest: 76 Cms (Unexpanded), 81 Cms (Expanded)

For Female candidates:
Height – 155 Cms (For ST category – 150 Cms only for ASI (Stenography))

Medical Standards:

1. Eye Sight: Distance Vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye without correction (without Glasses/lenses or Lasik surgery).

2. Must not have Knock Knee, Flat Foot, Squint in eyes, Varicose vein and should possess colour vision between colour perception- I to III.

3. Must be in good mental & bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

4. Having permanent Tattoo on any part of the body will be debarred for BSF Recruitment.

Examination Fee: Pay the examination fee through Bank Draft/Postal Order and fee is exempted for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Women candidates. For HC (Ministerial) post SC/ST candidates come under general category so they need to pay the requisite fee. The fee particulars are

Note: The Bank Draft/Postal order is in favor of the Authority to whom the application is address and payable at bank details are given below.

7. Two Self Addressed Envelops (25 cms X 12 cms) with Rs. 40/- stamp on each.

8. Application and Admit Card Signed by the candidate.

9. Examination Fee Bank Draft/Postal Order

10. Copy of Discharge certificate (for Ex-Servicemen)

11. Copy of Certificate in Support of Claim of Adivasis/Hill Areas/Tribes etc.

Important Dates:

Notification released on 5th December 2016.

Last date for receipt of applications is 2nd January 2017.

Written Exam for ASI (Steno) will be held on 16th April 2017.
